I’m Andrew Kelly, the Conservative Councillor for Walton Ambleside on Elmbridge Borough Council. I have li
ved in Walton on Thames all my life and was educated locally. I became involved in local politics in 2006 and stood for election on 6th May 2010, winning with 736 votes and a majority of 301. It was a huge honour to have been voted in to office by my fellow Walton residents.
Walton Ambleside is the second smallest ward in Elmbridge, with an electorate of about 3000. It stretches from Cottimore Lane up to Ambleside Avenue, including the many offshoots and the St John’s Estate. It then goes down Rydens Road – including Normanhurst Road and the Wolsey/Cardinal/Holly area – and covers most of Molesey Road from Rydens Road to Hersham train station. Along with Walton North and part of Walton Central, it is in the Walton division of Surrey County Council. My ward colleague is Cllr Alan Kopitko, who was represented the ward since 1999. Together we are a strong team for Walton Ambleside and do our very best to represent all our residents.
I currently sit on the Overview & Scrutiny Committee, which looks at and scrutinises the decisions made by the Cabinet and has several work and task groups, and the Affordable Housing Member Panel. I am also one of two Council representatives on the Walton, Weybridge & Hersham Citizens’ Advice Bureau Management Committee. I am also Chairman of the 2012 Legacy Projects Working Group and sit on the Localism Act Working Group.
